Making Destructive Comments

By Rich Lukesh | May 21st, 2008

To continue with my insights on the book by Marshall
Goldsmith, “What Got You Here Won’t Get You There,” this
week I will be discussing the habit of: making destructive
comments.

We are all tempted to snarl and make critical comments
from time to time.  It is not an issue of whether our
comments are accurate or not, or even whether they are
humorous or not.  It is a question of, “are they worth
saying?”

HR CONTRARIAN POINTER: The children’s verse, “Sticks and
stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me,”
is simply not true.  Words do hurt.  And it’s amazing how
long another person will remember a hurtful comment, a
thoughtless joke, or a snide remark.

Unified Theory of Management

By Rich Lukesh | May 14th, 2008

For decades, Physicists have been searching for an
overarching explanation (a Unified Theory) to unite all
the particles and forces of the cosmos.

Similarly in management, researchers have been searching
for a methodology that can provide a unified theory of
business success, as success is defined as sustainable
financial performance.  A number of consultants have
devised mathematical models to explain organizational
success.

HR CONTRARIAN POINTER: Mathematical explanations of
business success are simply inadequate because they will
never be able to factor in the human element.

On my website under the tab labeled “Unified Theory of
Management,” I have provided my Unified Theory, which is
driven by a single element – employee performance.

I have also included a graphical overview of my Theory,
which you can receive in a PDF format via email through my
website.
